We did it! Thank you all that came out for the 1st Dance In The Park Charlotte Music Festival. It’s going to get bigger and better!
I would like to thank all of the amazing DJs that performed their absolute best across the weekend. Friday night at DJ Sessions, DJs Cody Hare and Tony Cutlass were in a zone. They turned the lounge into a club with everyone dancing and grooving to their infectious beats.
Saturday at the festival, all of the DJs were on fire! MalFunkShun started the day off with an amazing set of tech and bass house gems. DJ Kemetik lit up the decks with a collection of soulful and inspirational tracks that got the crowd going. DJ Justice took us back and marveled the crowd with a smooth selection of classics. DJ Charles Gatling cranked it up with a set of jackin’ and tech house tracks. ThatGuySmitty pulled out the vinyl to showcase a smooth & grooving house set that was completely out of this world. DJ Badala B heated up the crowd with some Jersey classics and favorites that put the crowd into a frenzy. DJ Marcus and Badala B tagged team together with an Afro House infused set while DJ Marcus continued with some 80’s club hits to get it going in the park. Jazmina simply electrified the crowd with her first performance in 28 years with her classic “Happy In The Rain”. To close out the festival, DJ Andy K took us back with an all vinyl set of club hits and classics!
Saturday night, the packed RELEASE! Classic & Soulful House party was another one for the books. DJ Tony Cutlass lit up the dance floor and rocked the crowd. DJ Kato provided some energetic African infused House in the mix while DJ Stan Zeff closed out the night with a blazing soulful house set.
I want to thank everyone that came out to any of the festival weekend events and supported my vision and dream. Thank you to Mayor Jennifer Roberts and the City of Charlotte for their endorsement and support. Thanks to the volunteers and vendors who gave their time at the festival. Thanks to my team, Stacie Smith, Charles and Tammi Gatling, Jason Brooks, Daneen Carol and Kimberly Green for their continued help, support and prayers.
I have to give a special thank you to Karin Smoot. Without Karin, this simply would not have happened. Hundreds of texts, calls and DM’s across 6 months, she is worth her weight in gold. I so appreciate your believing in my vision and willingness to connect to the vision to see it happen. I look forward to continuing to work with you on future festivals and events!
So, I bid you goodbye for now but Dance In The Park 2018 is already in the works. Details to come soon . . .
