Dance In The Park: a dream realized . . .

After four years of “planning”, the dream is finally realized.  Dance In The Park 2017 is here.

I must admit . . . I just got tired.  Through a series of happenings we all call life, what was once a burning desire got placed in the back of the top shelf of my mind.  I had lost the desire to take a chance.  What the heck am I talking about, you say?  I am talking about my dream to create and produce a proper house music park event.  Not a DJ with speakers under a picnic shelter (btw, there is nothing wrong with that) but I wanted to do it proper.  A park with acreage.  A variety of vendors.  People in tents and lawn chairs.  A stage with a sound system that could wake the dead.  This is my dream.  No, now my reality.

Sometimes you just have to do it.  Stop the planning and just leap out.  So that is what I have done.  Dance In The Park (DITP) will be Charlotte’s first official House Music Park festival.  With the success of our RELEASE! Classic & Soulful House Party brand, it was important to add another piece into the Carolina House Music puzzle, a full one day park event.

The concept of DITP is a celebration of dance music from it’s earliest beginnings in Disco all the way up to Deep House of the current day.  But outside of that, DITP is even much more.  I think back a few months ago in September and all of the civil unrest that existed in our beloved city of Charlotte due to the killing of a unarmed black man named Keith Lamont Scott.  For almost a week our city was under a curfew.  It just so happened that a few days before our October party, the curfew was lifted.  That party was a special party because on the dance floor there was unity among a myriad of people, all unified under the melodic 4/4 beat of house music.  This music is a uniter. The goal for DITP is the same.  To celebrate and to unite.

DITP will be held on August 5, 2017 at Rolling Hill Park from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will feature regional and national DJ’s and artists.  DITP will also feature some of the Carolina’s best Food Trucks serving a variety of cuisine to our hungry patrons.  A beer and wine garden will be on tap all day long to satisfy our thirsts.  In addition, local vendors will be on site selling different products.
